Good news for the poor souls who have been languishing on the waiting list for several years
is that we are parting company with Glencalvie who only want to take five weeks fishing from
next year. This means we will be running two beats on Amat again. The four rod beat in the
Manse will remain exactly the same and we will also have a three rod beat. The second
team
will be three instead of four so the estate can retain the fourth rod. This avoids the “Jonny will
put up a rod on a full river” business which I know caused a little confusion sometimes.
We will be doing a lot of work over the off season to greatly improve access to the right bank.
The track down below Connie’s Cottage to Bo Bahn will be suitable for 4 wheel drive
vehicles and the gorse and bracken will be removed allowing access/casting at Bo Bahn,
Millers and Shepherds. We shall replace/install stiles, gates and duckboards above the spate
level. Further up river we will be cutting a new path from Glencalvie Bridge downstream on
the left bank. We aim to try and remove as many obstacles as possible along the whole of
both banks so you can at least get there on foot.
We will no longer close the river at 8pm. Opening times will now be 7am to Sunset so those
of you who choose to do something else when the sun is shining can fish in the evening. No
fish are to be killed prior to June 15th.
As we will be running two teams, Kates Cottage will not be available for ‘overspill’.
However, Bed (with or without breakfast) could be had with Thais Thompson at the Free
Church, a couple of weeks notice would be a good idea.
We now have a mobile greengrocer who comes round which makes fresh fruit and vegetables
available without a long trek. The website is www.iv28fruitandveg.com where you can place
orders online.
I am including our list of useful telephone number with a couple of new additions, the fish man
and the paper man and should you need a cook it would be a good idea to try and book
either Margaret or Thais asap as they are both somewhat in demand elsewhere. Speaking
of
cooks, if you would like to bring your own but have nowhere for them to sleep, remember
bed only at the Free Church.
We hope to see you all next season. |
